  • CU ALERT: ONS sirens sounded; No emergency at the plant

    Clemson University was informed that some emergency warning sirens sounded in the Pickens County emergency planning zone around Oconee Nuclear Station.

    The plant is operating safely. There is no emergency at the plant.

    Clemson University has spoken with Duke Energy, who is working with local county and state emergency management to determine the cause of the siren activation.

    As a reminder, if you hear sirens and are not sure if it is a test or emergency, monitor CU Alerts or tune to a local radio or tv station in your area.

  • CUPD: Investigation supports no credible threat regarding suspicious email

    This morning, the Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) was made aware of a message received on a University email account that referenced possible explosives. An immediate response and investigation were initiated and law enforcement has no information that supports a specific and credible threat at this time. 

    CUPD reached out to the State Law Enforcement Division’s Fusion Center and investigators were advised that approximately 225 other institutions have received the same or similar email over several months.

    CUPD continues to take the appropriate steps to investigate any and all threats and reminds the community to report any suspicious communication to law enforcement immediately.

  • CUPD: Motor vehicle collision on campus Wednesday

    At 6:12 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, officers from the Clemson University Police Department and the Clemson University Fire & EMS Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Perimeter Road and Cherry Road.

    Two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing one to overturn. The drivers of both vehicles, one of which is a Clemson student, and a passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

  • CUPD: Fatal vehicle crash on campus on Tuesday

    At approximately 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, officers from the Clemson University Police Department and the Clemson University Fire & EMS Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Highway 93.

    A motorcycle and an SUV were involved in a collision at the off-ramp from Highway 93 onto Highway 76 towards Clemson. As a result of the crash, the driver of the motorcycle, a Clemson student, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The driver and passenger of the SUV, also Clemson students, were transported to the hospital for evaluation and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

    The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

  • CCPD investigating report of gunshots off-campus

    At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Monday, January 15, the Clemson City Police Department (CCPD) responded to a report of gunshots fired at a location on Spencer St. A CU Alert was sent out at that time.

    There were no injuries and no students were involved. The investigation is ongoing. CCPD had cleared the scene by 12:02 a.m. on Tuesday morning and an “All Clear” CU Alert was sent to the campus community at that time.
