FAQ

How do you send these alerts?

The university has various methods to alert students, employees and visitors on the main campus to possible threats to their safety or disruptions to operations. You will receive emergency notifications via campus sirens and CU Safe Alerts when there is an immediate threat to your safety. You will receive timely warnings via text and email when police believe there is an ongoing threat to your safety or property. Notifications are required by the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

How do I sign up for CU Safe text alerts?

Go to https://www.getrave.com/login/clemson and sign in using your @clemson.edu email address. If you haven’t logged in before, register your account.

What do I do if I receive a CU Safe Alert or other warning?

Follow the instructions in the message. Evaluate your surroundings for potential threats to your safety and take appropriate action.

Can someone who is not a student or employee sign up for CU Safe text messages?

Only people with an @clemson.edu email address can register to receive text alerts, however, a registered user can add more than one mobile number to his or her account.

What is the difference between a CU Safe alert and an Inside Clemson email?

CU Safe text and emails are sent as a first notification to faculty, staff and students during campus emergencies and disruptions. Special OUR Clemson emails are sent as a follow-up with more detailed information and instructions when appropriate.

I am not on the main campus. How do I learn about safety situations that may affect me?

Pay attention to authorities in your county or city and follow their instructions. Local media often share emergency information as it is received.

What can I do if I am not on the main campus and do not want to receive text alerts?

I no longer am at Clemson. How can I stop receiving text alerts?

To stop receiving text messages complete these two steps:

  1. Text STOP to 67283 or 226787.
  1. Log into https://my.clemson.edu/#/directory/ using your Clemson user ID and password. In the upper right corner is a profile image. Click on that to edit your profile information. Edit the CU Safe Alert number and replace the number in that field with NONE.

What other ways is emergency information disseminated?

Clemson uses its social media network to disseminate information. Be sure to follow Clemson Public Safety on Twitter and Facebook for emergency information.
