  • Normal Operations Wednesday; Caution Urged for All Students and Employees

Clemson University’s main campus will resume normal operations, including in-person classes, on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

The safety of our campus community is the University’s highest priority. Exercise caution while driving to campus, allow extra time and slow down on your commute. Be alert for possible icy conditions on roads, bridges, sidewalks and parking lots.

Instructors and supervisors are asked to provide leniency and grace to students and employees who may have trouble accessing campus due to hazardous conditions that may impact their commute and public transportation options.

Students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to prioritize their personal safety and avoid travel if conditions feel unsafe. Those with concerns about traveling to campus should reach out to their supervisor or instructor to discuss appropriate accommodations. Supervisors can provide work-from-home or flexible scheduling options to their employees, as appropriate.

Additionally, as temperatures climb above freezing, be aware of falling ice and snow when entering and exiting buildings. As you make your way around campus, exercise caution, especially in shady areas where ice remains, and avoid activities that could result in injury.

    Parking and Transportation Update

      • Ice remains in some on-campus parking lots, particularly in shady areas. Use caution when driving or walking through parking lots and avoid parking in ice-covered spots.
      • CATbus, which is operated by the City of Clemson, may be delayed and routes may be adjusted in areas with icy conditions.
      • Campus Dining will resume full operations at all locations.
  • University to Conduct E-Learning Tuesday

Due to the hazardous conditions caused by winter weather, Clemson University’s main campus will conduct e-learning activities for Tuesday, Jan. 27. No in-person classes will meet, and all instruction should be delivered in an online modality. Employee work expectations for Tuesday, Jan. 27 depend on safe travel and access to work locations. Employees deemed essential should communicate with their supervisors to determine if they are required to work on-site, if they have not already done so. Those who cannot safely travel should discuss flexible scheduling options with their supervisor. Nonessential employees should use, to the maximum extent possible, telecommuting or work-from-home options. Note this applies to all University employees, even if the employee does not typically telecommute. Employees who are unable to telecommute or cannot safely travel should contact their supervisor to discuss flexible scheduling options.

  • Update: Main Campus Water Service Restored – June 7, 2025

Update (3:42 p.m.): Full water service for main campus, including drinking water and chilled water for cooling systems, has been restored. The boil water advisory is lifted for all areas of main campus except the Barnes Center.

Full repairs are ongoing and should be completed later today.

A water main break is currently affecting the availability of drinking water and chilled water used for main campus cooling systems. Power service remains unaffected, but our main campus community may notice changes in building cooling efficiency.

As a safety precaution, a boil water advisory is in effect for all main campus buildings until further notice. Clemson University officials are actively working with local utilities to resolve the issue and will provide updates as they become available.
