Timely Warning: Burglary – Feb. 9, 2025

Between 2:30-3 a.m. on February 9, 2025, two unknown individuals entered an unlocked room in Sanders Hall. The resident of the room was awakened by the sound of their voices and instructed the individuals to leave, at which point the suspects expressed that they thought this was their room and left immediately. The resident was later contacted by their bank on February 9 about vending machine charges attempted on their card, which were not approved by the bank. The resident reported the incident to the Clemson University Police Department at 11:30 a.m. on February 9, indicating that his wallet was stolen.

Crime Prevention: Protect Your Belongings

CUPD urges the following crime prevention tips for our community members to properly protect your belongings and yourself:

  • Be sure to lock your room and/or dwelling at all times, even when you are home.
  • Be sure you always have your keys or phone with your access, even when walking around your community (eg. doing laundry.)
  • Do not leave valuables in plain sight.
  • Walk with a friend or other known students.
  • Walk in well-lit and well-traveled areas.
  • Immediately report any suspicious activity on campus to the Clemson University Police Department at 864-656-2222.
  • Never attempt to make contact with persons involved in suspicious activity.
